Guess what, Quality Control costs money. I've never had an Olympus or Nikon fail on me. I'm happy with my 1dIIn but I've experienced problems with Canon lenses or flashes or Err99.

I bought the 5DII because the D3x price was out of my league. The only camera I think was inappropriately priced in Nikons range.

Happy so far with the 5 II, but a photography associate I share work with just had the mirror of his 5DII fall out of the camera. He took a picture and heard a noise and rattle, and then a blank view in the viewfinder. Took off the lens and the mirror fell on the floor. He was dumbfounded, but can't get a replacement because there is no stock. I've given him my 1DII to borrow.

It was almost by accident I ended up with some Nikon gear. Now that I have it, I will see what happens with a future D700x model and some anticipated lenses. Maybe I'll cull some gear, like my remaining Canons."
