Os dejo la nota de prensa:

TOKYO, Japan, November 28, 2012—Canon Inc. and Canon Marketing Japan Inc. today announced in Japan that, beginning November 29,*1 the company would expand its PHOTOPRESSO Web-based online photo service by enabling access from smartphones and tablet computers. The service supports the enjoyment of digital images through the creation, sharing and printing of original photo books.

PHOTOPRESSO (www.imagegateway.net/photopresso (http://www.imagegateway.net/photopresso)), as a solution aimed at expanding the photo-imaging world, lets users upload their digital photographs and easily create online photo books. The service allows even non-Canon product users to produce and publish online any number of photo albums free of charge. Through its support for smartphones and tablet computers, users will be able to view PHOTOPRESSO photo books on these devices without having to download any additional applications, making the sharing of photos with family and friends easier than ever.
Additionally, by downloading a free-of-charge operating application to a smartphone or tablet, users can easily create their own photo books on such devices. In this way, Canon aims to contribute to the development of the photo culture by offering new and enjoyable ways to enjoy captured images.

Optimized for smartphone and tablet viewing

Through the establishment of a dedicated website designed to support viewing on smaller screen sizes, users will no longer need to download software to enjoy looking at photo books on a smartphone or similar device. Accordingly, users can easily share the photo books they create with family and friends via e-mail and social networking services.

Easily create photo books using images stored on smartphones

Creating and sharing online photo books, and even placing orders for printed hardcopy versions—all of the same operations that can be performed on a PC—will now be possible from smartphones and tablet computers through a dedicated free-of-charge application download. The application ensures operating ease through a layout optimized for smartphone and tablet screen sizes, and supports in-device editing so that users can create photo books even in areas with no signal reception. As such, users will be able to easily perform necessary operations at any time and in most any location, and can even use the images stored on their smartphones or tablets to create photo books.

In addition to making possible the creation of online photo books free of charge, the PHOTOPRESSO service lets users place print orders to publish physical photo books of between 40 and 204 pages*2 in length, complete with a book jacket and wrap-around paper band. Orders, which can be placed for print runs as small as a single copy, are printed on Canon’s imagePRESS C7000VP digital color press to ensure outstanding image quality.

*1 Creating photo books requires the downloading of a dedicated application. The application for Android devices is to be made available on or soon after November 29 while the application for iOS devices is scheduled for release in mid December. Services, including viewing on tablet computers, are scheduled to be made available in March 2013. While the abovementioned applications are designed to support Android and iOS devices, Canon cannot guarantee performance on all applicable models.
*2 Print order pricing begins at ¥1,700 per copy for a 40-page photo book. An additional charge of ¥50 per additional two pages will be added for books containing more than 40 pages. The maximum number of pages possible per photo book is 204 pages
